Before you can work in the wiki, you must first sign up for Wikispaces, then request membership in THIS wiki (two-step process). Please use your student Gmail account when signing up.

IMPORTANT TIPS:

• Make small edits, and save your page often.
• Two people cannot edit the same page at the same time! If you see a pop-up when you go to edit a page, cancel out and wait.
• Do not copy and paste from Microsoft Word. The formatting will be messed up.
• If something gets really messed up, click the History tab and you can revert your page back to an earlier version.

How to Correctly Attribute a Photo or Image

Photos must include a LINK to the original source (web page) and a CAPTION giving credit to the source, photographer or creator/artist. The link should take a viewer to the page where the image resides in context (i.e. it should have information about the picture, not simply show the picture by itself). Make a responsible effort.

Mini-Movies

Super-short video clips (1-2 minutes) demonstrating basic wiki tasks. (These were designed for an online course for teachers, but the concepts are the same for your project).

• Create a new page, add a table of contents and a page title
• Add page sections
• Add text and embedded links
• Add a bulleted or numbered list and bold or italic text
• Upload and insert an image from your computer
• Insert an external image linked from a website
• Insert a wiki link (link to a page in the wiki site -- different from an external link)
• Leave a discussion comment on a wiki page
• Embed a YouTube video (or other embeddable object).
